On 9 January 2008 National Hire in conjunction with The Carlyle Group, completed the acquisition of all outstanding shares in Coates Hire Limited.

Coates Hire Limited is Australia’s largest equipment hire company with over 120 years experience in industry, supplying to a wide variety of markets including Engineering and Building Construction & Maintenance, Mining & Resources, Manufacturing, Government, and Events. With over 200 branches and satellite locations, Coates is well positioned to satisfy the equipment hire needs of an ever increasing customer base.

With the integration of both Companies largely completed, the FMStudio was contracted to coordinate the training project, with regards to the travel & accommodation arrangements for staff that required training in business systems nation-wide.

The staff training requirements and schedules were provided to the FMStudio in the form of Excel Spreadsheets – and with a staff of over 2000 people, and a schedule of 10 weeks of training, this was earmarked for disaster.

The FMStudio built it’s own FileMaker Database to better manage the training schedules, the volume of people requiring training, and their travel needs. The project was a huge success – over 600 staff from all areas of Australia attended training as required, and a master record was created to update on-going training within the company.
